You Get What
You Put In
A pastor said
that he saw a member that he had not seen in Church for quite
some time. He asked her if she was okay and where she had been.
She said that she had decided to leave the church because she
felt that the church wasn't doing anything for her. He asked
her if she was a member of the choir. She said no. He asked if
she was on the parish council. She said no. He asked if she was
involved in the counseling program, she said no. He asked if
she had gotten involved in any of the community outreach
programs offered at the church. She said no. He asked if she
attended any of the church socials and functions. She said no.
Question after question. Opportunity after opportunity, her
answer was still no. The pastor finally said to her, “What do
you expect to get out of anything that you did not put anything
into?”
This goes the
same for our beloved Gulf Meadows. You cannot expect to get
anything out of a church, or organization, that you have put
nothing into. We want the church to work for us and satisfy our
needs, and not have to put any work towards it. I challenge you
to find where you are needed at the church and volunteer your
time. (e.g. Being an Instructor)
